THE HIGHLIGHTS OF THIS PROGRAM ARE A 2-DAY TREK AT THE AUSANGATE MOUNTAIN, WHERE WE’LL SEE SOME OF PERU’S MOST INCREDIBLE LANDSCAPES, THE SURREAL RAINBOW MOUNTAIN, AS WELL AS A STUNNING TREK AND CAMPING SPOT IN THE HIGH JUNGLE NEAR MACHU PICCHU…

DETAILED ITINERARY
DAY BY DAY
DAY 1 & 2
Day 1 : Arrival in LIMA. Pick up from the airport and transfer to the hotel. You’ll have time to relax. Later, we will meet around a nice meal and enjoy Peru’s finest gastronomy… And if we have time, we’ll go to Miraflores for a sunset on the Pacific Ocean…
Day 2 : Morning flight to AREQUIPA, a wonderful white colonial city. The day will be dedicated to exploring the city. It’s a very pleasant and relaxing place. Located at an altitude of 2325 m above sea level, it’s a perfect first destination to get acclimatized to the altitude.
DAY 3, 4 & 5
COLCA CANYON 3-DAY TREK.
We begin the expedition with a three hour drive through two different national reserves. The highest point of the route is 4,900 meters above sea level. It offers stunning views of a few active volcanoes. Then we will continue to the Colca Canyon, home to the mythical Andean Condor. After that, we will start our three-day trek, in the second deepest canyon in the world! Every day we will walk about three hours. We will also have time to chill, at the Oasis Sangalle in particular. Overall, we will descend to the deepest part of the Canyon – 1000 meters of descent – which we will have to climb up on the third day.
DAY 6 & 7
Day 5 : Morning flight from Arequipa to CUSCO, the former capital of the Incas. Then together we will get to know Cusco, where we will visit, among others: the main square, San Blas district, the archeological sites of Qenqo, Sacsayhuaman, Puka Pukara… And we’ll go to a nice restaurant for dinner.
Day 6 : Visit of the SACRED VALLEY today ! We’ll drive through amazing sceneries to some of the most surprising Inca sites, such as Maras, Moray and Ollantaytambo.
DAY 8, 9 & 10
INCA JUNGLE 3-DAY TREK
Early start on day 3 to reach the Abra Malaga pass (4,300m). Then we’ll ride downhill mountain bikes towards the high jungle of Cusco region (2,000 meter descent) ! In the afternoon, we’ll do a short walk to two beautiful waterfalls in the jungle. On the next day, we’ll drive towards Santa Teresa from where we’ll start a 3-hour hike towards an incredible mountain pass. We’ll camp there. On clear days, we can actually seem Machu Picchu from a bit far… On the third day, we’ll continue our 5 to 6-hour hike towards Aguas Calientes (“Machu Picchu village”).
DAY 11
MACHU PICCHU
Early start today to catch the first bus to Machu Picchu. We will try to be the first ones on site ! We will spend time photographing it with the best light, before taking a full guided tour. After our lunch in Aguas Calientes, we’ll slowly come back to Ollantaytambo by train, and with our private transport to Cusco. We will have some time to rest, to enjoy this amazing city at night and another good dinner.
DAY 12 & 13
AUSANGATE 2-DAY TREK
We will leave Cusco early in the morning. After reaching Tinki (3850m), we will meet our porters/cooks with their mules. We’ll hike about 4 hours towards the eternal snows of the highest mountain of Cusco region : Ausangate (6384m). We’ll camp on 4,400 meters above the sea level. On the second day, we’ll hike for about 6 hours, and pass by dozens of turquoise lagoons situated on the foot of impressive glaciers. We’ll also enjoy amazing natural hot springs at the village where we’ll stay at night…
DAY 14
RAINBOW MOUNTAIN
This morning, we’ll take a 4-hour private transport from Pacchanta to Cusipata. From there we’ll start our 1,5 hour walk to the viewpoint of the Rainbow Mountain (5100m). The 360 panorama is absolutely out of this world. The way is easy. It always take less than one hour. And we’ll be back to Cusco in late afternoon.
