INDIA
INDIA IS HUGE. I’VE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO GO THERE ONLY ONCE, BUT I’VE LIVED SOME PRETTY AMAZING ADVENTURES. IN THE INDIAN HIMALAYAS, IN PARTICULAR, WHERE MY WIFE AND I CROSSED TWO PROVINCES ON ROYAL ENFIELD. AFTER THIS CRAZY TRIP, WE STILL HAD A BIT OF TIME IN THE COUNTRY, SO I COULDN’T LEAVE WITHOUT EXPERIENCING A BIT OF THE “REAL” INDIA. DELHI, AGRA, VARANASI… THAT WAS IT. I HOPE I CAN COME BACK TO EXPLORE WAY MORE THIS MIND BLOWING COUNTRY.
INDIAN HIMALAYAS ON ROYAL ENFIELD
Izabela and I have always dreamed of exploring some of the most remote valleys of the Indian Himalayas. But not as simple tourists and without deserving it. It took us years of travel and experiences to feel ready to hit some of the most dangerous roads in the world, by motorcycle. We were not, at that time, “extreme bikers” (still not by the way), but travelers who sometimes chose the motorcycle as a means of transport for the freedom it provides… Yet, we felt brave enough to pursue this dream, and to rent two Royal Enfield for this adventure. I tried my best to record photographically this roadtrip…
FROM DELHI TO THE TAJ…
Izabela had already been to India many years ago, so she had already visited the Taj Mahal… Not me. And this was a place where I’d always wanted to go. I was feeling that it would be a pity if I would miss it during this trip to India, not knowing if or when I would come back. So she accepted, for me, to go there again. I was feeling excited! After experiencing the quiet and remote Himalayas, I was really curious to see one of the new seven wonders of the world…
VARANASI
You may know this city as Benares, or Kashi. It’s one of the oldest town on Earth. For every Hindu, it is considered to be the home of Lord Shiva, the most worshipped god. Since birth, every Hindu knows that in order to reach the Nirvana, one has to die in Varanasi and to be cremated in the water of the sacred river Ganges. This is the most spiritual city in India, and probably in the world! When we went there, the famous ghats were, surprisingly, completely flooded, twenty meters under the river Ganges ! My wife and I could stay there only three days so I haven’t got neither the time nor the will to properly document it. Instead, I preferred loosing myself in the endless little streets and report photographically the overall atmosphere of this unique place..
