ECUADOR
ECUADOR IS PROBABLY THE MOST DIVERSE COUNTRY ON EARTH FOR ITS SIZE. IT’S GOT EVERYTHING : OCEAN, VOLCANOES, GLACIERS, JUNGLE…ETC AND CULTURE ! I’VE SHOT A FEW SERIES OVER THE TIME I SPENT IN THIS SURPRISING COUNTRY. SERIES AND PROJECTS THAT I’D LOVE TO DEVELOP IN THE NEAR FUTURE…
ECUADORIAN FISHERMEN
A short series of images documenting the hard work of fishermen from Puerto Lopez, on the Pacific Coast. Every morning around 6am, a boat full of fish reaches the shore. Strong fishermen have to keep it stable and close enough to the beach, so that porters, called “Gaveteros”, can carry the heavy baskets full of fish from the boat to a truck parked on the beach. They are literally harassed by hundreds of frigate birds and pelicans. Even dogs hope for a fish to fall…
A LAND OF VOLCANOES
Ecuador is characterized by its volcanoes. It’s got some of the highest on Earth. Chimborazo has the particularity to be the furthest mountain from the center of the planet, and the closest to the sun. These summits had always attracted us, to my wife and I. So this year, in 2022, we climbed Cotopaxi (5897m), Cayambe (5790m) and Chimborazo (6310m).
Amazing adventures, and stunning views from high up there…
